Went this morning and picked up the boat to start working on getting it cleaned up and up to date on maintenance. Nothing fancy but just a good ol reliable one. It's a seark 1648 with a 25 hp Johnson. I bought it from my father in law and is 15 years old and has less than 20 hours on it.

That will make you a nice rig. One thing you might want to consider is installing a transom saver on the trailer. Or maybe just put a block of wood into the tilt brace when you are towing. Either of those will take the pressure off the tilt braces so that the weight of the motor doesn't put undue strain on them when bouncing and jarring while you are towing. Of course, the transom saver will also - you guessed it - save wear and tear on your transom. :D

Enjoy your new toy. :)

Good looking dog, did not notice a boat. Liver spotted pointer?

Actually it's a black spotted pointer/english setter mix I got from biglefty almost 4 years ago.

I have the exact same setup and wouldn't trade it for the world. Love my Seark boat. I had a 25 hp Johnson just like that one as well. About a month ago the lower unit crapped out on me and would cost more to fix than it is worth so I have ordered a new 25hp Yamaha for it. If you have any desire to have a spare motor for parts minus the lower unit gears let me know and I will make you a deal! Mine is a 1999 year model 25hp and the engine was flawless. Never had a single issue out of it.

Seaark are great boats. I've had 3 over the years. Still have one and it is a beast!

From having to deal with issues from both, I'd check the tires and bearings on the trailer. Unless the tires have been recently replaced, chances are they are dry rotted. They may look fine, but if they are out of date, they could blow at any time. And, it usually happens in a less than convenient place. And, sitting around not being used can be tough on bearings as well.

It is worth the time to check/replace if needed both.
