I never figured out how you would break a pellet until I watched a guy load his ML. He didn't push the rod down, he was tamping it like a post hole and couldn't figure out why he was having trouble. I can tell you i can tell no appreciable difference in either and for the convenience i will now shoot pellets and never question it again. My mind is made up and i am a pellet man. too convenient and not worth the hassle of the loose powder.
