Poser, do you fish much? I don't ever see you on the Fishing Forum, so I just assumed you didn't.

Bass are really good eating, but I always hear from folks that say they don't like them for some reason. They are a white-fleshed, mild-flavored fish, so that doesn't make any sense.

Anyway, good to see that you are enjoying some tasty bass...the other, other, other white meat.

We just grilled some big bream on Saturday after a pretty successful trip to the Pickwick Dam tailwaters. Good eatin!

Yeah, I prefer to scale fish and fillet them off the bone.

It's just slower that way, so I don't do it when I'm dealing with high volume. On Saturday, my dad, brother, and I were all cleaning about 50 of them.

Dad ran the electric fillet knife, my brother scaled, and I filleted by hand or cleaned them whole.

We ended up with a mixed bag of white bass, crappie, yellow bass, and bream cleaned 3 different ways :)

I never sport fish exclusively anymore (no time), although I don't mind throwing something back as long as I have something to eat. In general, my fishing opportunities are spread out enough nowadays that I am always looking to fill the cooler. For the last few years, I'd say 90% of the time I am fishing I will keep anything that's big enough to eat and legal. :)

I guess that number would drop a good bit if I was fishing 2-3 times a week like I used to in the pre-family days!

I love bass meat. I bet it gets a bad reputation becuase so many people think you should catch and release largemouth.

-ain't like there is a shortage of them. Are bass fishermen a bunch of commies? :D

Yea I know. IMO, they are as good as bream, shellcrackers, crappie, catfish, or whatever other sportfish you fry up. I like all of those fish about equally.
And the only fish I catch and release are the bottom feeders or ones too small to eat.
