Yesterday I fired a case that was a little to hot . No damage to the actual Rifle , but the bolt on the other hand didn't fair so well the case expanded back into the bolt face and firing pin assembly. I looks like the bolt is trash anyone ever had this same experience. The rifle is a Remington model 7

I was very lucky to say the least. I dont remember the exact overage. I think i misread the data online or someone made a typo , none the less im grateful noone was hurt. Except for my bolt which may be ok ill find out once i drop it off at my gunsmiths

Never ever use a recipe you get off line, with out comparing it one that is in a manual. Hope your gun survives. Got a friend who double charged a 270 case and about blew the barrel up.

I found the error in the whole mess here. It was a mistake on my part. I misread the charge. I was using N-140 the data called for 37.1 Grains and a Max load of 37.5. I misread it for 47.1 a simple mistake over which could have had dire consequences. Thank the good lord the bolt locks held

first off DISCLAIMER i am in NO WAY implying any thing about the original poster

this is why it is very important to not have any distractions when reloading

if i have a beer at dinner i will not reload even if it is one beer

when i load i have no tv no radio nothing on i have complete concentration on what i am doing

i have only one powder on the desk at a time and if it is in my chargemaster the can sits next to it

Agree with DA. I have a forster collet bullet puller because I have made errors. One step I use a lot is to load 10 rounds and then re-balance my beam, check my load against the book, and then empty a round to re-measure the powder charge. It can make the hair on your neck stand up when a charge comes back as over-max.

I follow those very same steps DA, the error was made during my researching load data. I wrote down the wrong info. Very simple mistake on my part but will triple check all data prior to a loading session from here on out
