What are y'all's educated guesses? I'm just learning tooth wear aging and want to see if I'm close.

I'm in same boat... would really love to see a bit more wear to say 3.5, but his right jawbone has enough wear on 3rd premolar to call it 3.5 (interestingly, his left jawbone has almost no wear on 3rd premolar, favoring 2.5).

In other words, if I had only his right jawbone, I'd prob go 3.5.... if I only had his left jawbone, I'd go 2.5

My first question is on what date did it die?
Knowing this would be helpful in leaning 2 1/2 or 3 1/2 as a minimum.
If it died in early October, I lean 3 1/2 or older.
If it died in early January, I lean 2 1/2 or older.

Also, just looking at a couple pics is not nearly as good as examining a just removed jawbone in your hands, where you can not only actually "feel" the wear with your fingers, but "see" much better from all possible angles.

I'd say 3.5. Tooth wear aging is not by any means exact, teeth will typically show less wear when deer are in areas with abundance of softer food, ag crops. Deer in areas where there isn't much other than woody browse will show more wear. So where you are and available food matters.
