I scourted a piece of property earlier, didn't find much. Didnt get to look long. I did find a bunch of old rubs I mean they was this year but they wasn't fresh, wasn't tore up and I didn't find any scrapes. What's that mean. Of they in there or not. I did find 1 spot with like 15 rubs in about 50 or so yards, but they was old. Any idea

fine the does and you will fine the buck. Old rubs tell you that they are at least one in there and once the rut start then they will leave and only come back once a week or so. Good luck

scrapes and rubs are good for bow and first week of ml season. after that it is hit and miss so look for the trails from food to bed, have does buck will travel.

Finally I found another rub that looked a little new and I found a scrape it only had a few leaves so that tells me that they are still around, I've never figured there was deer on this property until a few weeks ago I seen a track. Also at the same time there is a lot of unexpected construction going on so I didn't know if that drove them out.

The deer are not as worried about making new rubs and scrapes this time of year. Their focus is all about doing the actual breeding. Naturally, fresh rubs and scrapes are going to become less prevalent. The hunting strategy should be based around finding and hunting does.
