After reading TnDeerGuys story about getting caught unprepared yesterday it reminded me of my own experience.Ill just say even with your headnet and gloves on it's hard to kill a turkey staring at you just 25 yards away with a slim jim in one hand and a mountain dew in the other.Who else has had an Oh Crap! moment?

I screwed up on Wednesday and should have got the gun up when he was behind a big tree. Never assume its a jake just because it has a short high pitched gobble.

I'd rather have an oh crap moment any day than blast a shell and watch him flap his wings and run away...

I just remembered my first oh crap moment..first time I hunted by myself. Jake at 10 yards I won't forget that.

Gobblers popping up left or right, instead of coming straight on, account for most of my Oh Crap moments. Even with good position on them, it still amazes me how some will always want to try and circle you.

PERFECT scenario he has to walk right past me, I run to the entrance on my side of the field which would put me directly in his path.

Apparently when he hit the field he was moving, I eased out to put eyes on him and I heard something, eased my head around and he's standing 10 yards behind me LOL needless to say he was a quicker draw Than i
