That night was one filled with as many emotional swings as a man can have lol... I had thoroughly convinced myself that I had flesh wounded this animal and it would live. Just goes to show how deceiving the blood trail off a shoulder shot can be...I was very blessed to recover this deer especially given the density of the thicket I was hunting.

I didn't run trail cams on this area. I shed hunted it last year and found some good antlers and big buck sign from the previous season. Along with the general lay of the land in that area I knew it was inevitable a good buck would show up. I just needed to keep the pressure off until the sign dictated it was time to hunt. First sit surprised him.
