So... I met this guy several weeks back...he actually helps a very good friend with yard work after her husband (my best friend) passed away last year. She had sold him some of her husbands firearms and hunting equipment. He tells me that this is the first year he is hunting and has just purchased a small piece of property and is going to give it a go. I told him good luck and if he needs any help just give me a shout...well quite frankly it has started what I hope will be a long lasting friendship. He email me a week or so before the opening of rifle season and said he was having trouble with a Marlin 30/30 and would I help him get it sighted in. I obliged and met him at his property...small spot about 20 acres good amount of thick stuff but borders 840 so kinda tight. we got his rifle working pretty good and I suggested he move his blind for a better view into the thick stuff and what looked like a good funnel area. he has hunted every day since opening day and today....it paid off BIG. He has texted me every day he has been out with questions and advice about calling, wind, and most anything else. After having a bad experience hunting when he was young I think he will be a lifetime hunter now...but has a long way to go to beat this one. I am proud to have been able to offer some suggestions and be a part of his first ever downed buck...he is in his early thirty's and I was just as excited for him as I was when my son got his first.

I had been talking to him via text all afternoon and at 4:20 this afternoon I texted him that the clouds had a pinkish tone to them and it was misting and it was perfect deer killin time..at 4:23 he called me (never calls always texts) and said "I Just shot a huge buck"...I asked him if he saw him fall, he told me no but thought he is right at the edge of the woods...I told him to sit still and give him a few minutes and asked if he need my help...he told me he had driven his car and would probably need a truck and yes...may need some help. I told him I was on the way, gather my stuff and took off. he texted me 20 minutes later and said "Found Him"...I was happy that he found him quickly. Was not prepared for what I saw when we got there....that's when he said...almost a matter of factly..."Not bad for my first deer"

Sweet! Way to invest in another person's life to have such a positive impact - you never know the ripple effects of things like that. I bet you'd be astounded to look into the future and see the impact that that has on lives within that guy's (current and future) family and friends.

A positive and worthwhile focus for one's energy changes a person, plain and simple.
