I'm sure it's safe to say we akl know there much more active at night therefore it makes sense.. that's like telling a coon hunter to go hunt during the day lol...

This has been discussed on the twra forum. The issue of dealing with night poachers was brought up as a possible problem with enforcement I believe.

safety issues are also a concern, not long ago somebody was shot at nite ,some folks don't care if shooting towards a house or not when they get focused on making a shot

If someone can not tell the difference between a poacher and a varmint hunter they need to go back to school. They know what a coon hunter looks like. As far as safety goes I don't see any difference in hunting at night than in the day. I am usual not one to say lets do like some other state but in this case there are just to many states that allow it for me to see any big problems.

I believe it was in the predator section that this was discussed. And from what i got out of it was - people don't shoot towards houses in the daylight, you only get hurt after dark cause for some reason we evidently get dumber and forget all about any kind of safety especially gun safety after dark, we will automatically turn into a poacher just like we turn into criminals for exercising our right to own and carry a gun. Oh let's not forget the most important, and my personal favorite, and number one reason you will here against it. Can you guess? It will scare the deer off. Yes it is not the bear, wolf, or coyote the deer fear but the dredded handheld light spawned from the depths of hell that will install more fear into a animal than any predator god put on this earth. Truth is actually a two part truth - 1st is there isn't the big money in it as with big game and waterfowl so no one will put time into really addressing the issue and 2nd is no one willing to step up and admitted as to whether there would or not be an adverse effect on wildlife.

Sorry I too didn't mean it the way it came out.

I don't expect it to happen anytime soon. Shotguns at night would be the way to go.

The real reason this will not happen is this: (Drum Roll)

"Because we have ALWAYS done it this way, it's a tradition"

It's amazing. I moved to Indiana 2 years ago, and of course, I can't use my .270 to deer hunt with. So its either shotgun, muzzle loader or a very limited number of center fire cartridges. HOWEVER, it is PERFECTLY LEGAL to use that same .270 at night year round for coyotes... at least on private property. Go figure.

Maybe they'll award night time Yote hunting in Tennessee in exchange for a 1 buck limit! ;)
