One thing I wish was that TN would allow night calling for fox and coyotes. It sure is a blast to see those eyes comin full tilt to a shotgun. They allow coon hunters to walk the night woods using lights and shooting coon. Why not fox/coyote calling? Why is it not allowed?

coon hunting is going down hill for the hunters as more folks protest thier tresspasing, the sport of dog hunting is only a shadow of its former self, back in the 60's bird & small game hunters prized thier dogs & you always ran into friends while afield, gaining permission to hunt was very easy & a lot of times the landowner would join in,i dont know the #s but i would be interested to know what the decline % is,times change :( ,mike243

I would say that the main reason would be that too many people would want to carry a high power rifle and it would make it harder to prove people were spotlighting deer. Night time shooting a high power is dangerous. It would be nice if they allowed it with shotguns only while deer season is closed. You said "It sure is a blast to see those eyes comin full tilt to a shotgun." Be careful sounds like a confession. :D

DVM. I spent 40 years of my life in NY where it was legal to hunt/call predators at night. I always used a shotgun with #4 shot. They did not allow any rifles larger than .22 cal.
Another point is that NY allows spotlighting deer without a weapon in the vehicle. Nope, not in TN. Sure would be nice...it is a blast.

Hunting hours for fox and coyote is 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset. No hunting beyond 30 minutes after sunset.

I still hunt coon hunt and always will/walker stile

The people who want to shoot/shine deer at night are going to do it whether we can predator hunt at night or not. When I lived in Illinois we use to hunt at night with a 12 ga. 3 in. shell with #4's. Sure was a blast.

My dad coonhunted hard since about 1943 til 2 years ago. Was one of the dead level best dog men I've ever known. One of the last of a dying breed. Just got rid of his last hound last winter (had 7 generations of line bred B&T living at one point). He finally gave it up after falling too ill to hunt. I remember going with him as a boy in the 60's and it sure was different then. People didn't mind you walking across their holler to go to treed hounds. Now you're likely to get shot at with no warning. People also didn't shoot the dogs back then near as much.
