Nice fish but I don't understand what you mean by "just shy of being able to take it to the scales".
cordell hull has a slot limit. 3 under 16" and 2 over 21". last couple of years it was 2 under 17" and 1 over 23". they keep changing it around and nobody likes it. wish they would just have 14" or 15" size limit.

Ahhh, I see! I wasn't aware of the slot limits on Cordell Hull as I never actually fish the lake. I just fish the tailwaters below. Still a great fish, congrats!

What did it take to win on Tuesday night and this past Sunday morning? I have a tournament out of Defeated on 5/11.

That could make for some really funny weigh-ins. Do you go after the big ones, or fish a smaller lure and try to fill livewell with fish you can actually keep? :)

I go for big all the way and hope for the best.

only took 5.52 to win Tuesday, they had 4 small ones and nobody had a over 21. sunday it only took about 12 lb to win and 1 over 21 was brought in.

the fish bite was great on sunday with a lot of slot fish caught but Tuesday was horrible, everybody had a hard time just getting a bite.

Very nice bass.

However, you are not entirely right about the "nobody likes it" part.

It's mostly the tourney anglers that don't like it. The reason those fish are even there to begin with is because of the slot limit. You very likely don't catch that fish if not for the PLR.

A PLR needs to implemented statewide on largemouth and smallmouth IMO. Every single major body of water needs it. There's just too much pressure on them nowadays. Bass eaters could still eat all the spots they want and keep a few lm or sm under the slot to complete their mess.

It's amazing what that PLR has done for the LM fishing at Cordell. I compare it to what the PLR did for Dale Hollow's Smallmouth. This year, numbers are down due to a fish kill, but Dale has long been the premier smallmouth destination in the south. The PLR puts a lot of 4-6 lb fish in the lake because those fish have to be released if caught. With the PLR, you can still keep a few unders for the table and if you catch an over, have the option to put him on the wall. Best part is you catch a lot more fish in the slot range. High numbers of big 4-6lb fish and your chances for the wall hanger increase exponentially compared to before the PLR. More fish reach the upper end of the slot.

I commend TWRA for this one. Going against what a lot of people don't like and keeping the quality of the fishery and also all fishermen (rather than just one group of fishermen) in mind.

Those of us that fish for fun instead of meat, bragging rights, or money really love the PLR's. I'll get my meat from walleye, crappie, sauger, catfish, and shell crackers. I couldn't care less about how good of a fishermen others think I am, and I'll save the bass for the fun fishing.
