Happened kinda fast, he came slinking through from my behind/right towards out in front. With what I could see a 100 yds, he looked pretty good, first decent buck I have put eyes on in person this season. Tried to get turned to the right, stand creeks from the cold and he stopped… wasn't ready to shoot. He started walking again and I get the rifle moved around in his direction, barrel hits the side of the shooting house and he stopped again… looks right in my direction. He looks to be outside his ears and I ready for the shot. Now he turns straight away and starts walking. I had to whistle twice and he turned completely broadside and looks… At 100 yds the Rem 700 LTR .308 and Hornady Custom 150gr SST ammo all but dropped him in his tracks. I have put in some time these past few weeks to get this rifle ready to rifle hunt with…. pretty excited for first blood with it. Now I hope to see one of the big boys I had on trail cam back in the early fall, if the neighbors haven't gotten them yet.
