Got a new toy from gunbroker for pennies on the dollar, a 2009 835 turkey tactical that appears to be unfired. Cant wait to get her dialed in

Definitely recommend updating the recoil pad. I've got one and it is not fun to shoot, but it's got a few dozen turkeys under its belt! 😎

I will definitely play with some different chokes and rounds before next year, but good enough for remainder of season, if i even carry it. Ive got way to many turkey guns to choose from😁

Better lean into it! I have the same one just a different stick and it will knock snuff out of your mouth! I only turkey hunt with it, it's not fun to shoot!

I remember when everyone had to shoot the 3-1/2" 12 gauge. Now those same folks are bragging on the badace 410. I guess we all wise up!
Not me, too many wounded birds flying away with the .410's seen it with my own eyes. I hear lots of bragging but not many will even admit a miss or better known as a wounded bird.
835 should be called "Bang Flop"!

Agreed the 835 is a bang-flop, especially with a 3 1/2" 4 shot. But you will feel it. I really wish my FIL hadn't bought the .410 for my 7yo daughter this year. I never could get it patterned to my liking. She killed her first turkey with my 20g 2 weeks ago just fine. No kick at all

I had one and killed a bunch of birds with it shooting Winchester Longbeard 3 1/2" #5's. If I was still shooting any 12ga today I'd try some 3" tss shells. Congrats on the new toy!
Mine came with a ported barrel and all over the paperwork it said to not use steel shot. I'm afraid to use TSS in it. Thoughts? I have used the Remington Hevi-shot and it was the best patterning factory loads I've tried

Send them an email and ask as you sure don't want to shoot it if it's not good for it. I was thinking tss just to go to 3" instead of the 3 1/2" and maybe reduce some recoil. If I was to take my SX3 12ga I'd shoot the Longbeard 5's because I know what they do.
