well i finally broke down and got a muzzleloader....i have been hunting pretty much my entire life and just never really wanted to add the hobbie of muzzle loading but i finally got one. i got my hands on a Knight bighorn 50cal (not sure if that is even a good one) from a buddy for basically free and went ahead and bought the 209 conversion kit. I know alot about guns and more then most about deer and hunting but i just wondered if anyone can just hook me up with some advise on the sport. I know NOTHING about muzzleloaders i mean i dont even know how to clean the thing lol. i am excited about giving it a try and i got another buddy that will show me the ropes on it (fishboy)

anyways and advice on products or what not would be great.

as i said i got a Knight Bighorn and i have it topped with a 3x9x40 scope. also got the 209 kit so i can shoot those instead of the #11 caps. I think i will use the pellets instead of powder just so i can keep it simple

100g of pellets & a bullet in the 300g range & you cant go wrong, you may have to try a couple of diffrent types to see what your gun likes,in my guns 777 leaves a crud ring worse than pyrodex,i have shot all my deer with pyrodex but have reset my scope for the 777 & will try that for a change.good luck & the powder you choose will determine how to clean it,mike243

I hunted with a Knight T-5 Woodsman for 10+ years and it did well with 90-grains loose pyrodex and a 240-grain XTP. I bought an encore a few years back and swithced to 100-grains of 777 (2 50-grain pellets) and still use the 240-grain XTP. Works great for me.
