I wasn't even looking but happened upon this sweet looker. Remington 700 Classic in .308. No box but she is new and never fired from 2005. That's the only year the Classic was made in .308 and only 1479 were turned out that year. Slick 24" barrel that's not drilled and tapped for sights and plug screws for scope bases have never been removed. From 1980 to 2005, Remington made the Classic in limited runs of only one caliber per year until they ceased in 2005. 308 IS my go to centerfire caliber. Will I scope it and shoot it? I'm not sure. She sure is pretty and I feel very lucky to have this perfect specimen!

NICE Rifle! Congrats on the purchase!
I remember that model and wishing I could get one. However, at that time I was in the midst of a tumultuous divorce and there were NO free funds for extravagances at that time!
I am also a big fan of the .308 Win cartridge and since those tumultuous times, I have managed to add a couple to my rotation. IMO - the .308 Win is almost as versatile as my all-time favorite 30-06.

That is nice!!! Those Remmington Classics are beauties...I had one for a very short time in 300 WM.

I have a few rifles in the "too pretty to hunt with category" and bought the 300WM specifically for a moose hunt. Ultimately I decided it was too nice to get beat up like that so I sold it to another member here and replaced it with a Bergara Ridge.

Love the Classics. I have 2 that are hard to find calibers in them. I had one in a 220 Swift once (1992) that was probably one of the best shooting factory rifles I ever had and sold it. It grouped better than my heavy barreled Swifts. Nice grab!

Tickles my heart strings to see a Rem Classic as new in box. I was at a gunshop many years ago. There was a safe that was never open behind a counter. That day it was open but only about 6". I looked best I could and saw green boxes. I asked about them and he had 2 Classics in 257 Roberts NIB. Needless to say 1 left with me.
Congrats on a fine rifle!
