Sit him on ground at top of ridge then I went on back out the ridge. This is his first time hunting alone, he's 11. Gave him a safety rundown and told him I'd be back thru at dark and stay put. I knew where I put him he'd probably have deer walk really close. Started to put him in a spot where they wouldn't be so close. Then I thought about it and said to myself, be a good up close and personal experience for him.. Well, I was right.. At 4:15 he shot this buck at 5 yards. Said he didn't really have room to aim, he tried looking thru scope and all he seen was hair. So he just looked at barrel and deer then pulled the trigger. LOL! ... Said he was scared the deer was gonna get him. Told me he was a nice wide buck.... Guess he probably looked huge to an 11 year old at 5 yards. I've taught him all he knows, so I'm proud of his first one by himself.. He did good considering I put him right on a main trail...
