My brother in law shot a buck this evening and the arrow hit a limb and hit the deer under the base of the horn next to the ear. The deer ran off with his arrow stuck in its head. We looked for a while this evening but couldnt find blood. Is there any hope in finding this deer? He is going back tomorrow to look for a few hours.

Never have done that but there is always a chance of finding him.Depends on how deep the arrow went in.I would check thickets to see if he bedded down over night and died.
I'm sure someone on here knows more about this than me.
Good luck

There are some briar thickets nearby that i have told him to check. Hopefully he can find his arrow. He has a lum a nok but we never found it.

He probably did the right thing by backing out tonight with no blood trail.

I would certainly look tomorrow.Only 2 options he's either dead in a thicket.Or the arrow got slowed down enough by the branch to not penetrate enough to kill it.Hope your brother in law finds him.Keep us posted on the result's.

Well he looked today for about 3 hours in the daylight and could not find any blood or his arrow. I didn't think there was much hope but I think he is gonna call it and look for buzzards over the next few days.

If he had a lum a nock go back after dark if the arrow fell close be easier to see. If you haven't already done that.
