Is finally complete. It took me a couple years to get what I wanted and I'm finally satisfied. The rifle had a Zeiss Conquest 2.5-8x32 and it was a great setup. Now it's my Ultimate Hunting Rifle with the new optics I've been saving for quite some time now. There really isn't much change in weight either. The Conquest weighed 13.75 ounces and the new scope weighs 15.5 ounces. I'm really impressed with this reticle and how much better the resolution and the color contrasts are at low light.

Winchester Model 70 Stainless Left Hand .270 Winchester
McMillan Ultralight Edge stock
Talley Lightweight Low mounts
Zeiss Victory Varipoint 2.5-10x42 with #60 illuminated reticle.

WOWZER! That may be my next scope, but I may be saving for quite some time before can do it, too! :)

Nice, particularly the scope!

Did you consider the Leupold VX-6 in a 2-12x42mm???

I thought about it a while back and asked some questions about the VX6 on Leupolds Facebook page. They replied, the VX6 basically is a VX3 with a 6x zoom ratio with the same glass, coatings, and erector system in a 30mm tube. The VX6 does offer a similar reticle as the one I have now and the reticles are etched in the VX6 just like the Conquests I have. After weighing the differences between the VX6 vs the Conquest I decided not to get the VX6 and go with a legendary scope with better optics, mechanics, and overall performance.

Thanks for your thoughts! :)

I guess if money were no object, I'd go with a Zeiss Victory as well! :D

My decision is currently between the Leupold VX6 2-12x42mm and the Zeiss Conquest 3.5-10x44mm. All things being equal, I would prefer buying a Leupold, but there are aspects about each I prefer over the other. I was "sold" on the Conquest over the VX3, then Leupold upset my applecart with the VX6!

Am afraid to even look at the Victory series.

I went to the range today to site it in this morning. I shot several loads and I'm settling on this load. It shot the best out of all the loads I shot. It's 53.7 gr. of RL17 and a 130 gr. Gameking. Moved it over 3 clicks after I shot the group and fired a couple more down range to make sure it's on. I'm really liking this new setup.

That is my 3 shot group for load testing. It was the best group out of all the loads I shot. I don't think you read what I typed. I moved it 3 clicks to the left and it's ready to rock tomorrow morning.

Wow that is nice Rick. Man I would love to own a model 70 extreme weather.

12 clicks??? That would move it 3" to the left. 3 or 4 clicks would be about right.

going to be a fun trip next weekend

:d :d :d :d

Can't wait to go! Got the 460 ready if you want to use it.

The new Model 70s with the controlled round feed like the pre 1964 ones had sure look like a million dollars. I know the one I have sure shoots good just have not been able to develop any loads to see how good it is I know the 280 Remington can be real accurate .
