Some 1st for me. This was my 1st ever hunt outside of my home county ever since I started hunting when I was 12.Of course, my 1st ever harvest outside my home county. AND, may end being my 1st ever mature buck harvest. Im gonna let Mike further examine this jawbone so we are accurate for our club data. Right now, we are just gonna put 3.5+. It was a great hunt, saw 2 other shooters bigger than this one but one wouldn't stop and the other I didn't have a clean shot on, so let keep walking. This buck came out running a doe. Gave me some time to really look the body over to be sure he was 3.5, then when I seen how unique the rack looked i took the shot. He wont score huge, but i love the wave inward on the crabclaws and how the G2's almost touch. Have always wanted a rack with some differ character to it, and this buck gave me what i was looking for. I couldn't be happier. Its great to be part of a great club with great potential for the future. Thanks again Mike!

I saw that on Facebook.
I looked at it several times because he's so cool.
He's an awesome buck!
I love the shape of his rack. I'd love to kill one like that.
If he walked in front of me tag #2 would have been punched!
Congrats to you.

congrats!!!!

on my farms, there's enough wear to call that buck 4.5, but it's hard to argue against 3.5

That's exactly what we are contemplating . The wear shows 4.5 but every deer I have examined so far has had extensive tooth wear for its age . Their is not much Ag. In the area and the primary food source is native browse and hard mast .

What we will end up doing is sending off a few and getting cementum annuli testing done so we have an accurate measure of our local herd tooth wear .

No matter what his age , he is an awesome looking buck and I'm glad you were able to close the deal Jeremy ! And what is it about guys coming down to the lease for the first time and killing a buck the first morning ? Haha

Yea mega, it is dead on against my chart for 4.5. And like Mike said, there is other variables coming into play here, so it will be looked at further. I felt 100% confident 3.5. But, nothing in body structure lead me to 4.5. Not that I ashamed of this buck in any way, I am completely thrilled with my trophy, but this buck will make great example for the realistic expections for the club over the next few years. Thanks to everyone for the congrats, really means ALOT to me from my TNDEER friends.

One more thing on this thread. I want to thank BSK, WDS, stickNstring, mega, Wes P. and all the others that have been on here and shared valuable information for us to learn from. With yalls post and meets, I have learned so much about map reading, QDM, body structure by age, tooth aging, herd dynamics of west of TN( which I never hunted), etc. Everything I learned from you guys came into play with me being successful on my first hunt in a area I never hunted before period and only seen 1 time to tour the property. Also, my fellow lease members that gave me valuable info on the property I had not seen before the hunt. All of you are truly awesome.

He may not score tons (like that matters anyway) but he has a lot of bone on his head and I love the overall shape of his rack! Nice deer!
