My 1st velvet hunt

Been watching a bachelor group for 2 months from a distance. Very consistent until 2 weeks ago. I assumed they were being baited, then low and behold they show up Friday evening under my tree (. As I watch with binocs). I've never targeted a specific deer before but "ole green eyes" was the one I was after. So here I am in a tree this morning when they show up! Ole green eyes turns my way. I range him at 30, he moves closer as I adjust my cameras, I settle the 30 pin under the "pocket" calm my nerves, secure my anchor, ……… and sling one over his back. And so it is. Day 1 of the 2022 deer season. Enjoy ''em while we can fellers. If your like me you've got more yesterdays than tomorrows. It is well!

At 65 I "probably" have "edged by" my mid point in hunting but like you make a point of enjoying & appreciating each moment.

This was my 1st year attempting it. I prolly wouldn't have tried if not for seeing him so much and knowing that they leave that farm in early October.
