I have had an instance in the past where my MZ misfired from moisture. I have believed for years that November 11th is the best day of the year every year and I fully intend to sit all day even in the rain. What should I do other than put a balloon on my barrel to prevent misfires?

Maybe something to cover the general area where the receiver breaks open to accept the primer? I dunno if that'd help at all. Also I've been hearing this magical 11/11 day a few times. Is this just from past experiences? What county do you hunt it out of curiosity?

Someone told me this years ago and I started paying attention and its true. Pay attention tomorrow you will see deer in areas you haven't seen all year. Last year my #1 made one daylight appearance on camera under my other stand the afternoon of 11/11.

I killed the biggest buck I've ever kilt on 11/11/17. As far as the moisture problem, I had a ftf when using #11 caps years ago as the cap had soaked up the humid air from a damp day apparently, and turned to green gel. I'd be more concerned with the primers staying dry first if it were me, and just cover the end of the barrel with something to try to keep the powder dry.

All good solutions. If you are limited on resources (pop up shower), you can always get a paper towel or toilet paper, twist it and insert it into the end of the barrel (sort of like a gas can). Heck, I've used aluminum foil with a rubber band because that's all I had.

All in all, muzzleloaders these days are mostly waterproof, at least very water resistant.
