I have always wanted a era correct muzzleloader. Though I have never owned one due to the cost. I have had several Hawkins and other styles of side lock m/l but I really want to scratch up the money to buy a era correct m/l from the early tennesse settlers in the Cumberland plateau area where I was born and raised. Any one have any info or thoughts on this type of firearm? With every thing money is the limiting factory. I know I'll never be able to drop two grand or more on one but maybe could swing $500 to $1000 someday .

there use to be several folks who make flintlock rifles with some of the prettiest wood I have ever seen in this end of the state, I have lost track of the web site but a little digging will find them id think. if I could afford 1 it would only be used for target shooting at a few matches a year . too nice to drag thru the woods

Still available from my buddy in Birmingham. Jack Garner 45 cal poor boy with maple stock, L&R Durs Egg flintlock with set triggers and is iron mounted....$500. I've seen and handled this gun and it is like new. I don't think you could buy a kit for this price.
You might check with Tip Curtis in Cross Plains. He has in-the-white guns that just need a finish. Tip has an extensive stock of many styles and calibers. I'm thinking he offers one in Tennessee mountain style. Also, if you want a real heirloom, Roger Sells up in Crossville makes one as pretty and correct as you could get.
