If you try and look around the smoke....you're gonna miss. Seems like those easy, no-brainer shots are always the ones it happens on too. In my case, twice this morning on a big 8. Ole boy ran about 50 yds on 1st shot, started making a scrape, and then Just stood there after the second shot. I've killed a good one already, so its not as bad, but still....keep your head down!

Thats what I was talking about. ...I just seemed to have forgotten when the easiest shot in the world is in front of you. There was a young man on here yesterday talking about the same thing..and couldn't understand how he missed. I think we unconsciously don't realize what we did wrong

I may have to give the Blackhorn some thought. The big 8 I killed Saturday...he came in, I raised up and killed him, just like that. Ive always been a confident shot, but for some reason on this deer, I thought about too much or something ..

I shot a mule deer in UT last year. So much smoke from Triple 7, that I couldn't see a thing (a little fod just added to the mix).
Luckily my hunting buddy was standing off to one side and gave me the play by play.
Blackhorn 209 for me this year.

Yep, been there done that more than a couple of times. I just chalked it up to a good learning experience. Still hurts though.
