In the matches etc. you've been to where do auto rifles rate? What brand and model was the most accurate you've seen?

I'm not MUP either, but the auto rifles where I used to shoot were never competitive and all would have periodic jam issues. If I had no physical way to run a bolt, I would look at Volquartsen. But I will say it again. The auto rifles where I shot were not competitive and had jam issues. Speed from being auto was not enough to make a difference. Folks who brought auto rifles rarely came back or would come back with a bolt gun. CZ, Bergara, Tikka, Vudoo, or RimX were the top competitors for reliability and accuracy. This was NRL PRS style and not BR. There are other options that excel at BR but I'm not as familiar.

Tried to make a 10/22 style competitive years ago, unless your willing to sink a fortune in one it's not gonna hang with bolt guns and even if you do spend the money your always gonna "almost" be there. just my experience.
What's a really light, short accurate bolt gun?
Are you looking for something to hunt with or print tiny groups on paper and shoot strings of 10 plus shots per round?

I've got a 10/22 with a .920 carbon barrel that'll give nickel size groups at 35 yds, thats enough. It's got a thumbhole stock that's kinda heavy, maybe I'll dig the wood stock out. I opened it up to free float the barrel but never shot it much afterward. Maybe that's the ticket.
I'm working on a 10/22 now and honestly I think the biggest issue with it is the factory trigger.
It's got a .920" barrel in a hogue over molded stock and the barrel is free floated.
After 150 rounds or so down the pipe I can punch quarter sized groups @ 25yds, but occasionally have a "flyer". I can tell almost every time I have a flyer, because the trigger doesn't break as crisp and I pull off out of the inconsistent surprise that I get from the trigger.
I think it's worth the <$100 to throw a better trigger in it and see what happens.
Another note, find the ammo it likes….same as a center fire target rifle. Good grouping rounds aren't cheap.
Mine prefers the Eley Target, but they have much more variety that I need to explore.

Tikka T1x is a good option. Also look at Bergara bmr carbon. The carbon be light and shoot great for hunting scenarios.

Tikka is always a great choice, never seen one that didn't shoot above its pay grade in rimfire or centerfire. Great factory triggers to, Bergara factory triggers not so much.
I am MUP, and I've seen KIDD .22 SA rifles that could hang with anyone at our matches, but it needed the shooter to go with it to seal the deal.
i have always found 10/22s to be inherently inaccurate

I mean, from my experience there fine for squirrel hunting, but when it comes to making tight groups, there's definitely better options.
My 1022T is very accurate and not sure it is better than my marlin 7000, not sure either will do good in a match these days as the shooter ain't what he was 20 years ago . At 1 time I would have put them up against anything but a pure target gun. I used federal 40g and it was as close to a match bullet a poor boy could afford, 1 thing I found out quickly with the Ruger, the action screws had to be tight or it looked like a drunk shot it.

They're accurate enough at 30/40 yards.

Accuracy is also in the eye of the beholder. There's minute of squirrel head and then there's MOA at 100 yards, which is still about the size of squirrel head, but at 100 yards.

I haven't yet found a semi-auto that will stack em in there at 100 yards the same way a bolt action will.

Typical target shooting for me on a .22LR is 25-50 yards max.
Are you guys shooting habitually at that distance for competition or fun? I'd like to see some of those groups and what they were shot with (gun/ammo/rest)! I might pick up a new hobby...as if I don't already have enough

Haven't tried my 10/22 that far, but yes 30/40 mine is super accurate. Mainly got it for shooting armadillos and running traps. Would like to see its accuracy (or lack thereof) out around 80/90

once you start past 50y ammo becomes more critical for accuracy, a gun that is accurate at 50y will be at 100y but the ammo will show how well it's made the farther you go from 50y. I have found most ammo will kill at 50y but not pattern well to 75y and beyond.
