Got to thinking about if I go hunt snow geese again about making that 4th and 5th shot different than the first three since unplugged guns are legal. Load a couple 3 1/2 inch T shot shells first then finish the load for closer range with three 3 inch BB shot shell's that would go first. I can't help but think of when you get off a couple shots and the flock spooks a couple longer range loads may let one reach out a bit more to maybe get one or two more. May have to check pattern on the 3 1/2 inch T shot loads, I know the 3 inch BB's do well close range. I was knocking down geese at 40 yards on our hunt with the BB three inch loads. Just have to keep track of the number of shots you get off to make sure what needs to go first on reloads.

I take it you are slipping the geese? Boy, you get on em rite, and as they all raise their heads spray em with BB,s, boy you can do some damage. Your plan sounds good.

No field hunting over 2000 decoys. Seems we would have a flock ready to land and a single or pair would come in first. The guide would call the shot on them and the rest would flair. Just thinking if I had a couple longer range shells loaded to shoot last, #4 & #5 you may be able to reach the ones that flair after the first shots are fired. I was not doing bad as it was, the guide walked to our end of the layout blinds and ask who was knocking those longer range 40 yard birds down and wanted to know what type choke I had in my Stoger. Just like to add a extra 10 to 15 yards on those last couple shots till the gun goes click.

Shoot, let the singles and pairs land and get a wad down close, then wail on em. We hit em on drive bys close to roads, or if we can slip up one em in a ditch or woods line, we can get real close before we cut loose. Had some guys get within 5 yards before the shot was called and they knocked down 76 out of that flock.

As far as loads, I stick with 3 1/2 inch BB for all 4. Next year I plan on having a magazine extension so I can have 9 of those.

We finish cripples off with Winchester #6 steels that I got 100 of for $20 before duck season.
