Seeing a video today about Lapua gave me the idea to start a thread about names that are mispronounced. I'll start with a couple..

Garand. I suspect this is the most common mispronounced name in the firearms industry. And the most argued. I have very few people pronounce it (what I believe to be) correctly.

Lapua. I had no idea I was pronouncing it wrong, because everyone around me was also. 🙃

A pet peeve of mine is calling a cartridge a caliber.

My favorite caliber is a 3030 Winchester. That's a cartridge but it is .308" caliber.

I say lapua wrong, I say Garand wrong, I say Browning Citori wrong on purpose, I throw an extra L in there.

Sako or Socko?
I remember watching a hunting show many years ago with a guest on the show being a lady who worked for Sako. I remember her saying something along the lines of Seiko ("Say-co") makes watches, Sako ("Socko") makes rifles. I've always remembered that for whever reason.
