I know a lot of us East Tennessee guys visit Middle and West Tennessee on a regular bases to hunt. Are there any guys in Middle Tennessee and West Tennessee that hunt East TN on a regular bases.... :)

I have only hunted here in the Eastern part of Middle Tn but I may make the trip east this year to hunt with a friend I have made through Xbox last year that lives in Sevier county. He just bought a tract up on a mountain and invited me to come over. I hope to be able to.

I usually go bear hunting in Cherokee every year although I missed last year. Chase dogs until worn out, then hit the rivers for trout. Nice way to spend a few days and sometimes we drag a bear out of the mountains.

No. when I was younger I thought it would be fun to hunt the mountains, but now not so much.

I'll be honest, I'd probably still like the experience, but not the lack of deer. ;)

i see tons of deer out east no problem

and have killed in knox and loudon co

as far as quality bucks not as good as middle and west but they are there

They can get old in the ruff terrain for sure.

I don't know why everybody thinks East Tn is so bad - I love hunting here- I've seen some absolute giants come out of this side of the state - yeah sure the numbers ain't nothing like some places but that doesn't take away from the fact that the hunting here is great - I hope nobody comes to east tn and hunts - that suits me just fine -

Like what you said DK077, east tennessee is a great place to hunt. I have killed good deer here, i've lived here all my life, wouldnt live anywhere else. I've hunted middle tn also, alot more deer there, but alot more hunters also, i dont like that, I will just keep on hunting east tn. and killn them big old mountain bucks as we call them. Stay in middle tn. we got it covered here in the east, good hunting everybody

Deer hunting in East Tennessee is like apples to oranges vs. Middle and West Tennessee. With that said there is plenty of deer hunting to be done in East Tennessee whether its on WMAs, leases or private farms. Of course the most furthest and extreme eastern part of Tennessee serves up some of the most challenging hunting in the state due to terrain and deer densitys. However the geography between the Cumberland Plateau and the extreme mountains of Tennessee that consist of river bottoms and fertile rolling farms can be rewarding for deer kills and many deer sightings. Many west Tennessee folks imagine all of east Tennessees geography to be all mountains! JK! I mostly hunt private farms in East Tennessee, some WMA's when drawn and have no short lacking of deer sightings and kills. Ive hunted on WMA 's in the middle and Western portions of the state with success as well and have enjoyed every bit of it!

I'd love to hunt East Tn just for change of scenery. Killing a deer is just a bonus. I'd love to hunt the beautiful mountains of East Tn. As long as i don't see any hats with a T on them i'd be good :D

I live in Chattanooga, I hunt a pretty good bit around here. Our numbers here are pretty good. Kudos to anybody who takes up that challenge each year in east tn.

It sure is a lot different hunting here in east TN compared to middle and west TN. Here you can't simply wait in the isle of the the grocery store and get one, you have to put in some work to get them mountain deer.

Not sure its that easy in Mid/west TN either, but its surely better/easier,especially if your talking about killing any leagal deer.

If I lived and had access to land whether private or public to hunt in that part of the state (west Tennessee) I would definitely hunt that vs. driving 5 hours across to east Tennessee to less deer density numbers, etc. Im a very prideful East Tennessean and do the majority of my hunting in this part of this state on private land and have success year after year. However, I do drive across to the western part of the state when I get a chance to hunt! It is what it is...the deer numbers and preferable food sources. The same goes for Eastern North Carolina where I lived for a while. Most hunters in Western North Carolina came to the central and eastern part of the state to do there hunting when they could. Deer density numbers in most counties in eastern north Carolina would be between 60-80 per sq. mile. Thats crazy!

I live in E. TN. Although, I have not hunted much North of Knoxville, I see plenty of Deer. Here in my home county of Hamilton, we put up harvest numbers that beat some counties many miles west. I have seen 4 Boone and Crockett bucks taken the past few years and they didn't come from neighborhoods. Check the deer registry.....

Jmed quit spreading viscous rumors !There are only small bucks and not very many of them in ETN! LOL. Seriously though, I have hunted ETN my whole life. Sure its great to go to Mid or West TN and see the number of deer you normally see. But I wouldn't trade it for my ETN hunting. There are a lot of good quality deer killed here every year. You just might have to work a little harder for them .
