This morning I got up at the usual time, 3:00. As I got out of my bed I quickly realized I didn't feel right. I had a headache, was nausious, and felt extremely week. My only guess is it was from a lack of sleep over the past few days. I decided that even with this morning being as good as it was, I would not go. I woke back up at 10:00 and felt much better. I talked to my dad for a bit and decided to try something different today. I walked down my, for the most part, dried up creek. I was going to sit over a crossing about 1000 yards down from were I entered. It is by a thicket were the deer bed and always has big buck tracks in it(it is very inconveniently far in the woods). I walked slowly in hopes of seeing a deer standing in it the creek, but didn't. After a good 30 minutes I made it to were I wanted to climb the bank and find a spot to sit, wat happened next still has me shaken up. I looked up and seen a deer about 40-50 yards out. It did not take it long to see me. Of course it ran off along with its buddy. Now if it had been a doe I would have stayed, however, it was a VERY large buck. He had it all-mass, width, and definately height. Big enough that he has me more excited than the 130ish class 11 point I've been hunting on a different property.
I backed out and will be trying to figure out how to hunt him. Got a good idea but it will require getting my neighbors permission to walk in on their trail.
red=were they were, yellow=walk in and stand, grey=crossing, and brown is the bedding area.
My question for you guys is, should I head back this evening? Really don't want to run him out but then again, the wind is right.
