I had a small hawk stuck in my fence just a minute ago. It's legs were jammed between two slats, and it's been hanging upside down for who knows how long…….is there anyone that can put me in touch with a Memphis area raptor rehabilitator? I've tried to find a way of contacting Knox Martin at Mid South Raptor Center. Can a game warden reach me? Thanks

You should call David Haggard at Reelfoot. He's the head ranger there and is in charge of caring for hurt eagles and such.

If I can't get any traction tomorrow morning, I'll do that. Thanks for the tip.

Since I posted this up, I've talked with one rehabber out of North Mississippi that will take the bird. She assured me that there's a 24-hour "Good Samaritan" grace period for temporary care and transport of a wounded animal to a licensed rehab facility, but I still get the heebie jeebies about it. I'm holding out for a call back from the Mid South Raptor Center at the Agricenter….less than 5 miles from my house. Hopefully, he can come pick the bird up tomorrow morning. Just in case, I was given the phone number to a Shelby County GW (Andy Tweed), and will reach out to him first thing in the morning, as well.
