Anyone ever owned a Massey Ferguson 135?

Looks like we're about to become the proud owners of an old one with a brand new engine in it (less than 50 hours).
 
That's what we use at the farm. My father-n-law has a 1964 model with the Perkins Diesel and power steering. Great tractor IMO. We've had very few issues with it, other than general maintenance.
 
I don't know the type motor other than diesel.

I've got a copy of the original owner's manual sitting on my desk. Very cool little tractor. Plan on using it mostly for mowing plots and box-blading roads. We might even see if it will pull a 3 or 5-tine spring-loaded chisel.

My dad has one in a gas burner. Great little tractor. It just keeps going and going and going................
 
my father in law has one. tough tractor .he has done about every thing that can be done to a tractor and it just keeps on going .
 
Great tractors, they have been super for tobacco farmers,
I do try to advise all my clients, to buy a tractor with a ROPs,
have to see new land owners on one without them.
They can easily turn over... and after seeing some of your machine
operation photo's I would strongly suggest YOU STAY OFF IT, BSK

It has a 3 cylinder Perkins. They are a good engine but are prone to leak especially the fuel system. Some had trouble with front end shimmy at road speed but many tractors in that time period did also. Other than that very good tractor and strong for only 38hp.
 
We had a Massey a few yrs back and it was a solid tractor, we just sold it to buy one with a front end loader.
 
Our 1st tractor was a Massey. It was a great tractor! We had it a few years for our 80 acre farm back in the 90's. We then bought a 407 acre place in 2000 and needed a bigger tractor, so we sold the Massey. We saw the guy we sold the tractor to a year or so ago and he was still using "our" old tractor (The Massey). That was cool to see. It brought back a few memories. Good to see it was still moving
 
I've got a '61 Massey 35 with the perkins diesel. Thing starts with a slight bump of the starter no matter how cold it is outside, even after sitting for a few months. They use fuel line seals called "olives" that are kinda hard to find, but they're pretty easy to make by cutting rubber fuel line into little donuts and trimming them down with a sander or grinder.
 
Have a 65 model that's tough as nails. Still running on original motor. My much newer John Deere consistently gives me a headache.

BSK,at road speed,on a tractor??? Hope it ends up on UTube :)
 
Isnt that the gas version?......i believe if you will step up to a 165 you get desiel and this is the better value for your money. Gas just dont perform as well as desiel i have always been told. :)
 
My father left me his 135 a few yrs back. I remember the day he bought it brand new! Very strong to this day. I garden and a food plot every now and then. It is a gas burner perkins motor. Leaks a little oil but I just keep it checked and it always fires right up. Wonderful memories everytime I crank it up!

The 135 was sold with both gas and diesel engines. Can not beat the perkins engine, got the one my grandad bought brand new, liked it so much I bought one just like it last year. They are good little tractors, we use both of ours daily along with our Massey 255.

They were good little square tractors. As mentioned, 35 hp and had the perkins diesel which was very reliable
 
Have a 47 horse Perkins diesel that puts 47 HP out the PTO. Prefer it to my larger tractors for what it is, but it doesn't have AC or a cab lol. Great tractors.
 
Grew up on 165, 175 and 1100 and have a 451 massey now. All perkins diesel. Best all around high torque low RPM diesel ever built. All older massey diesels were paired with solid transmissions and very heavy rear ends. IMHO the only place they come up short is the braking system.
