At around 5:15 I woke up from a nap today and was bored as heck, so I got my stuff and went down the road for a quick stand. After about 5 min of calling, three black dawgs came into my set up. I droped this one with my cz527 in .223 probably could have killed another out of the three but was to tore up to have killed my first black yote. It's the fith black coyote for the woodpile boys and our fourth this year, it's been crazy! Was late when I got back so did not have to to get to the pile!

I have a question for you WoodPile Boys...What do you do with those black yotes after you kill them?
We usually grind most of it into sausage. Sometimes we make save a roast but not often.

All have or will be mounted, and blue 5 uses some of the meat!

don't forget to save the back straps and marinate then in beer and criole overnight then, slow grill or smoke them.
I forgot about your recipe Travis. Its the best I've had. These black ones are tougher than the others though.

I will assume that is a joke or at least hope it is ! :o

Seriously though the reason I asked is those black yotes are worth between $150 and $200 on the taxidermy market. The more black they have the higher the price. I have seen some go for around $400 on ebay but that is on the higher side.

Enjoy the meal BLUE! :D

All of these are costing us $150-$400 cause they are being mounted i guess we will have to kill some more to pay for the mounts thanks for the tip!

That is the reason I was asking what you were doing with them. Some just cut the tails off and throw them away. The red phase ones also bring good money. The more red the better. Here are some pics of a black phase and a red yote mounted up.

MrUTVOL....I believe I sold you that black one a few years back.

My 1st coyote was a black one...it was so eat up with the mange I put gloves on for the "hero shot" lol. Went back about 2 wks later and the buzzards hadn't even touched him....did I mention the smell? It was one nasty dog, he wouldn't have made it through the winter.

It may be, I am not sure because I have done about a dozen or so in the last few years. Yours was a bigun for sure! :)
