With the hike in price of tss got me wondering. I have never shot the longbeard shells but I did buy several boxes for 9$ a box this winter just to have. What are y'all's experiences with them. I know they pattern good but what's killing power like. Bought them in 20 5 shot. Just any info would help. I still have enough tss for me for now. Just wondering.

Like you, I have plenty of 20g TSS.
Like you, I question whether shooting it is sustainable.
I went way down the rabbithole to figure out how to shoot a 40y pattern with lead from a lightweight shotgun.
What i found was that 20g cannot produce a 40y hunting pattern with Longbeard XRs (Marty D put up a pattern in 20g on the other thread that is phenominal!!!)
For that reason, I went with a 12g Stevens 301T this year. I'M LOVING IT!
Check out the other thread on them. I've never shot them in 20ga but did shoot 3 1/2" #5's out of my 12 and like them. If I ever go back to a 12 that's what will be in it.

my first question is where did you find longbeard xr shells for $9 a box, not saying they don't exist but I've never seen any that cheap without some sort of rebate...
second, I patterned a stevens 301 20 gauge with longbeard xr 5 shot and at 40 yards it was a great pattern so... dunno...
for years I used an 870 12 gauge with 3 inch 5 shot longbeard shells and know they'd be deadly out to 60-70 yards... never got a crack at one that far (probably wouldn't try a shot that far anyways) but many fell victim at 50 yards and in
Walmart in huntingdon tn. I shot one yesterday from my m2 20 with factory full choke. At 35 yards I was impressed.
