With a moderate powder load in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing, the danger is minimal and it has been used for over 200 years.
Having said that I see no need for it, and the [color:#FF0000]REAL DANGER[/color] is someone reading this Halfa** and going out and [color:#FF0000]DOUBLE loading[/color] everything: powder,ball,powder,ball. Then the newspaper arcticle start on how muzzleloaders are just pipe bombs and should be banned because Johnny is missing is right hand and left side of his face.
Actually, I guess it would be left hand and left side of his face assuming Johnny shoots right handed.
