I had a discousion with a hunting buddy.

Is coyote electric callers legal?

I told him yes. That electric callers is illegal for "GAME" animals. (examples, Deer, Turkey, Ducks, etc...)

I could be wrong....

They are legal for coyotes, but not fox and bobcat.I could be wrong but im pretty sure,I haven't looked at the regs in a couple months.

Form page 13 in the hunting guide:

Use or possession of electronic calls
for fox, turkey and waterfowl is prohibited.

They are legal for deer, coyote, bobcat, crows. Pretty much everything except; fox, turkey and waterfowl.

Maybe I'm just stupid here but somebody tell me this...why is it legal for coyotes and bobcats but not foxes? You mean to tell me that if hunting predators using an electronic caller and a fox comes in that you're supposed to let him walk and then try and call him back with a mouth call? Seems a little ridiculous and I'd like to know what the real reason is for the law to be written that way.

Electronic calls are legal for coyotes and bobcats during daylight hours(actually everything except for waterfowl, foxes, and turkeys) because the regulations allow them. They are not legal for foxes because of a state law passed by the legislature.

True.....once again I was not specific enough. Night hunting for predators is illegal.

I looked through the Reg. book briefly, where does it say anything about it being illegal to hunt predators at night?

It just says: The use or possession of predator calls while night hunting of any species is prohibited.

I have seen some full moon nights where a person could see pretty good out!!

Are you referring to the state legislature or the TWRC? Do you know why it was passed like this? What would it take to get it changed? I've never hunted predators but would like to try it some.

Thanks!
