Proly not the best place to put this, but this question has to with properties so I thought it fit. I'm looking into leasing some land for next year, but am having trouble finding a place. I know the general areas I want to look but I don't know how to find maps or contact information. I've had people tell me to contact timber compaies or the owners, but that didn't help much. Can anyone point me in the general direction to get started???

Yeah I agree, I heard a few folks had so much trouble with their lease being clear cutted recently that they had to get some telephone poles and dig them in to hang stands on

Ours is so thick this year that you can't see over 30-40 yds in a thin spot! They cut it in patches and now its grown to where it's almost imposable to hunt it. The biggest tree might be about the size of a 2 liter bottle. It won't be huntable again for years so it's time for us to move on.

Most posters on this site are clear cutting in patches to create cover and food for deer. I don't know how to hunt a clear cut except on the edges to catch deer coming or going. My woods are so old they are like a park and there aren't many deer in the open woods so I'm planning two 12 acre clear cuts on my property in an effort to improve the deer habitat (and raise some $$$). If your property is clear cut, give it a year or two, the hunting may improve.
