We didn't think we would get drawn for anything, so we put in for this and then got drawn! We just saw the antler restrictions and figured that'd be a good one to get preference points on. So what can we expect down there at the end of November? What type of terrain, and is there a good population of deer there? Is camping allowed? Are there cabins available to rent? Any other advice on areas etc is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

Looks like we applied for one of the less desirable hunts! HAHA, should be fun anyway. I guess we hope for a good storm.

Which hunt?..................I didn't get the first preference but I did get the MZ in October. I just love to have a gun to hunt deer kind of hunt in October when only bow season is open . Shot a 10 pt there a couple of years ago but that hunt is a slow one from my past experience.

to answer some of your questions. Yes camping is allowed. you can camp by the VFW lake near the game warden's house/check station. no cabins to rent unless they changed that. Terrain is flat in some places, hill and hollow in others. LOTS of hardwoods. Look for thicker cover near the hardwoods, and private land that butts up to the WMA.

there are deer there, but remember 5 on a side or a 15" inside spread, so does and small bucks will seem to be everywhere, but like anywhere the big boys are harder to find. You can get away from people, but you will see other hunters.

Regulations are 4 on one side or 15" now. Not much thicket there.
