It's getting near the end of season and the deer sightings are getting slim. What's yals tactics to getting a late season bruiser? I have been fortunate before and killed a few big bucks during the last week or 2 of season. My plan is to stay at it and hunt hard til the last day!!! Good Luck!

Obviously being out there is key. I am hunting what I believe to be a travel corridor between a clear cut that is several years old and basically a 20+ acre thicket and food sources. I know where they are coming in and out of the thicket but have yet to be there when they do. Acorns everywhere and big areas dug up full of tracks. They have not moved for me yet but they are there.

Like every night before I hunt I believe "tomorrow could be the day" lol. I will be in the woods tomorrow.

I've had better luck over the years seeing deer late in the year when I was able to hunt the day before a big bad cold front came in. Couldn't always do it cause of work but several times it was noticeable. A few years ago the temp dropped about 40 degrees day to day, 12 - 18 hours before that front roared in the deer were everywhere.

Sounds good. Also I think a lot of hunters have already got their meat and a lot don't go as much and it's advantage to others since the pressure lightens up.

For gun hunters the season has barely started. I never think of this time of year as being close to the end. Mid December is when I'm most likely to see the older bucks based on recent years. From about the 12th to the end of December has always been best for my chances at a buck. The does are there so I plan to hang around the thick areas near my food plot and see what comes by.
