Ole Jeff was lookin down on ole spit again guys, went to ky this weekend. I was shooting saturday and Lil spit today, with the thoughts of 1 buck tag you kinda got to play your cards right. We have a couple of bucks that have been named "hitlisters" thoughout preseason. And yeah these might not be anyone elses hitlist bucks but for a 3 yr old he was basically all that we had on 4 cameras on 100 acres so we were gonna try to get him. We got settled in and the camera set up and i was ready to rock, opening mzloader my brother killed a mature doe out of this stand and we seen 18 out of this stand. Daylight broke and i had that feeling that we would see something but as morning drug on i got the feeling that bucks were not really running does. We hear a deer running behind us close and Cody says BUCK, NO wait a doe and I thought he was joking as we kid each other regularly. I turned to see the split G2 buck about 40 yards behind the tree acting as if he was running a doe but didnt see her, i stopped him once baaaaaaahh Cody says "I'm not on him" he takes off again baaaaaaaaahh "Still no on him" "yeah no i am kill him kill him" baaaaaaahhhh the buck stops behind a tree and i squeeze one off. He runs off cody swings to me and says he was behind that tree bro, i was sick but then more interested to know if i hit him as he ran off tail down hard. Cody said, "YOU SMOKED HIM GREAT SHOT MAN" I was still in denial cause i missed a doe in mzloader that was 150% my fault i rushed it and just missed, I'm very hard on myself when i miss. We get down and my gut is in my throat walking to the hillside were i just shot my 2nd biggest buck to date and on Jeff Bentley Day! Blood everywhere and i bout broke down yall, i have just had a ruff season i tell ya, walk 70 yards and cody signals there he lays Brandon Awesome job man. I was tickled to punch my ky tag with this buck, he is nota 150" but will make a great memory. Got back in the stand and busted a coyote right before dark she also stopped behind a tree on camera, i tell ya my luck was there but it wasnt if you know what i mean. Non the less Ihad a great day in the woods!
