I'm looking for a new rifle. I'm really liking the Kimber M84 Montana (other than its looks). The rifle feels great and I am wanting a lightweight, smaller rifle. Anyone have one of these?

Any other rifles that would compare well with this one (size, weight, feel)?

No smaller than .243 and no larger than .280.

i bought a winchester featherweight delux in .243 back in october. it is a sweet shootin rifle. it is a lil heavier, but its not heavy by any means. the winchester is a lil limited in calibers tho.

Kimberman has one in 308. The rifle feels like a wiffle ball bat it's so light. It's a sweet rifle and shoots lights out.

Like M70man said I have a Montana in .308. It wears a Leupold VX2 2-7x33 scope. The gun is right at 6lbs scope and all, I dont think you will find anything lighter unless you spend some serious bucks. The only others that I know of are the Remington TI and the Browning Lightweight TI. They usually go for 2-300 dollars more, and dont have the feel the Kimber does IMO. Most people think the Kimber will kick hard with it being so light, but recoil is not bad, it does jump and rise alot, but felt recoil is very manageable. If you dont like the looks of the Montana, the standard wood stocked 84 is still very light, and they usually have some very nice wood on them.

The Tikka T-3 light is really a sweet shooter and lite, for alot less money and if ya just gotta spend more cash the Sako A-7's are awesome to.

Thanks guys. I just want a light, good shooting hunting rifle and the Kimber felt great. Before I buy I will check out a few more but it will be hard to beat the Kimber.

I want synthetic on the stock. I would love to replace all my stocks with synthetic thumbhole stocks eventually. Thanks for the insight.

I owned a montana in 300 WSM.... worst rifle I had ever owned... also the only one I ever had to send back... the chamber was messed up in it... then after getting it back it would not shoot anyhting under 3 inches at 100 yards.. send it back again.... got it back and could only do 2 inches with multiple handloads... I mean i worked on load development on that gun more than any other gun I have ever had.... People do not call it Kimber roulette for nothing... you may get a good one and you may get one that is not worth anything... Some people are luckier that I as some people have gooten good ones and are very pleased... I was not along with lots of other people on the net....

However, I got so tired of hearing how good the Tikke T3 lites shoot I went out and bought one... Now they are not as pretty or "high end" as the Kimber but I am blown away by how good mine shoots... easy 1/2 inch group with the very first load I tried... no adjustment to seating depth or anyhting else..... and you hear the same thing from one person right after another on the web....

I would seriously suggest looking at the Tikka T3 Lite and then think aobut th emoey you will save...

I've also owned a Tikka T3 in .270 it was a mean little gun.

I checked on a Kimber .45acp just a few weeks ago. They were on 16 week back order. Now I'm not sure if the rifles are on backorder as well. Something to consider.
