Took the kayak out today to a new spot looking for Crappie. Met my buddy on the water who gave me 10, I took home 7 of my own and caught my first Hybrid that was a hair too small to keep. I'm making it a point to learn Crappie this year so I'm making progress!

I fished with double rigged jigs and curly tails, one on each side of me, butts of the rod under my knees to keep them secure. I backpaddled in 8-12 feet and watched as I went over all the brushpiles for the strikes. Fun times!

My dog was excited too!

Pretty fish.

Sorry if I misunderstood your post, but if you were on the water with your friend's ten crappie, and your seven, and were checked by an officer, it probably would have been an expensive fishing trip as you would have been two over your creel limit.

Not trying to stir, just educate to potential issues.

I was out for a few hours yesterday morning in the yak. No crappie managed to catch a few bass though. Seems I have been able to find them yet. Fishing Hurricane creek. Nice Catch!

Cool, I'm still looking for my first hybrid

They can often be caught this time of year hanging around with the Crappie and even eating the same lures. I caught this one on a 1/16oz jighead with a curly tail. I used several colors but I think it hit the pumpkin/chartreuse one. Only first thing in the morning though. They aren't active while the sun is up. Go get one!
