well i took the tc encore 45 ml out today for a test run 100 gr of shockey 200 gr shock waves and for the most part decent groups but reloading was a nightmare ball starter for the first 4 in and then just glide down the barrel.i'm gonna try something else i think don't know what just yet.open to suggestions

You'd think HE would be a little more involved with the process before putting his name on it.

Jim Shocky 3F in my opinion is haft way decent. It's grain size is consistent, pours into the measurer decent and is less corrosive then Pyrodex or Triple 7. Use the weakest primer such as T7 muzzleloader or Fiocchi to cut down on the crud ring it creates. It will shoot to a different point of impact on a clean bore vs dirty bore though. Problem is once it fouls in your bore your seating depth will change without you knowing unless you have your rod marked. Best thing to do is switch to Blackhorn 209 as mentioned. Clean the carbon out of your plug with a 1/8th bit turned by hand before you start, use magnum shotgun primers and you will have no problems with ignition with the Encore plug. TC tests and sets the headspace on their guns with CCI's. Good luck!!

after shooting today i have 2 choices switch powder or sell it 12 inch group at 100 yrds .i had rather not hunt

American Pioneer/ JSG powder isn't THAT bad guys. It does have a learning curve to it in order for it to perform best. #1, do not lube the barrel, #1 COMPRESS the load, it will easily compress another 1/2" from the point where you feel the bullet touch the powder.

100gr Alliant Black MZ "Repackaged American Pioneer" 260gr harvester pt gold, harvester crush rib sabot @100 yards. Winchester W209 primers.

Switching over to CCI Inline MZL primers.

no offense there frontiergander but even if i could get my rifle to shoot the group you have posted i still would not hunt with it.that is just to much of a gap between bullet holes for me.

i gonna get some bh209 in the morning and some different bullets and if that dont work it will be on the market because if it dont shoot right i do not want it.

A 2" group is nothing to get snooty over LOL. That wasnt with load development either, just chose 100 grains as a starting point and will work from there.

That's a deer killing group everyday of the week all week long! When I started MZ hunting it was with a Hawken rifle and you could of only hoped for 2" groups at 100, lol! I do own a rifle today that shoots 1" with BH209, but still I've killed a many a deer with my last rifle and it shot groups about like that.

No doubt a 2" group at 100 is acceptable for deer hunting but only out to about 150 yards. Now I have two guns that shoot around 1" and I know for a fact that one will hold that to 200 yards. Never shot groups with the other at 200 but recon it will be under 3" at 200.

With Shocky Gold I tried 3 different bullet combos. Yes, I compressed the powder. No there was no oil in the barrel. I was lucky to get 5" groups with that junk. Pyrodex, 777, and and BH209 all provide great accuracy with the gun. The Shocky Gold was a golden turd imo. I left what was left at the range for someone else to try so they would know not to buy it.

sorry but even at 200 yards, a 4 to 5 inch group is still excellent for a muzzleloader.
you will not catch me shooting at anything 200 yrds with a 4-5 inch group

thats good, because your off hand shooting group probably is lucky to even show up on a 12" target LOL. 200 yards is a long poke with a muzzy, take away a rest and its downright scary.
