My wife shot this one today behind house. It was missing one eye and the other was infected. He was scared up all over from fighting. Just wondering on an age estimate.

Dentine vs enamel looks like a 2.5 year old to me from the top. However, the wear on the tips of the molars from the sides are a little more worn than a 2.5 year old and suggest 3.5.

Since tooth wear shows min and deer are often a year older, I will go with 3.5.

I'm thinking he has to be 3.5.
It had above average mass for this area with 4.75" at bases and a full neck. He was blind enough to walk right into fence after doe he was scent trailing jumped fence. Seen him from yard before she got home from work and figured if he was still there she should shoot him before coyotes got him or he got tangled up in a fence.

Per tooth wear I lean towards 2.5 but looking at all the pictures I will guess 3.5...and as mentioned, tooth wear is a minimum so 3.5 is possible....whatever the age, glad yall got him.

The back cusp of the last molar is not concave, it is flattened or better. I always use that as an indicator the deer is 3+.
