I've not seen a pic of a hard horn at my place but I did see a shredded fresh rub. Really caught me off guard...the bucks I am seeing are still in velvet but it looks thin.

I usually get my first hard-horned bucks on cam the last week of August, although the majority don't shed velvet until the first two weeks of September.

Got my first pic of a young one today. I also noticed the bucks are already starting licking branches; that is the earliest I've seen this happen.

Our farm in Western KY saw some of the older bucks shedding the last week of Aug most every year. Scouting trips to Ill on Labor day wknd have also yielded a lot of new rubbing in yrs past. Which means these bucks have been shed for atleast a few days?

You should see slightly earlier velvet shedding the farther north you go. The opposite is true going south. I often see peak velvet shedding in the Deep South in late September or early October.

Saw my first rub this weekend, mthe following evening covert text me my first hard horn pic.
