Every time time I buy a plane ticket to Tennessee the hunting weather is lousy on the days that I plan to hunt. Blame me for the warm weather this weekend. It happens every time.

Well, thanks a lot! Geez, I get invited this weekend to private property in Pikeville where the owner practices the mgt philosophy of "If it's brown it's down" and this is what I have to look forward to thanks to you. I'm trying to fill a freezer here, pal.

Wow!

You fly here to hunt?

The primary reason I fly there is to visit family. Since I usually spend a week or more there during each visit, I take advantage of the opportunity to hunt. Tennessee has much better access to hunting than Texas does. Unless you own land in Texas or are willing to shell out big $'s for a lease within a reasonable drive of your house, then your hunting options are very limited. Quite honestly, it pretty much sucks. Plus, I hate all the feeder hunting that goes on down here. Totally lame.

I thought the bad forecast for this weekend was my fault! :) I had planned to hunt Sunday and Monday with my cousin - we're going no matter what - but this rain and wind forecast is sure going to make it less enjoyable. Hopefully dumb luck will kick in and a deer or two will walk by one or both of us.

Good luck with your hunt too.

I'm glad you asked. How do you check the forecast for the Cherry Branch area? I have just been looking at Dunlap and subtracting a few degrees for the elevation on the plateau.

I wish I knew too. Do the same you're doing.

There still moving around ...... they need to replenish after the fun they have been having the past few days. Rain, it will be warm as well, I'll jump into the Frogg Toggs and go for it.

Don't give up hope Vermin.....

Was hunting Friday afternoon two weeks ago with my grown son. Light rain so we got in the shooting house. Then it started to pour, lightning, and thunder. I told him we ain't gonna see no deer in this kind of weather, but we waited it out. Ended up seeing deer coming out into the field 1/2 hour before dark despite the downpour. Son took a doe, and then 15 min later saw 2 8 pts chasing around 5 does. He also got one of the 8 pts. Craziest hunting weather ever experienced and had success too.
