First time seeing some confirmed "nubs" on the boys this year. Have not had an antlered buck on camera since December 10th

I saw a couple with bumpy heads last week. If the weather looks better I'm going to check camera cards soon and expect to see some bigger bumps!
and at our place in Wayne CO, grandson & I found 3 fresh scrapes while turkey hunting this weekend. All were under licking braches too.

We've also seen a few small bachelor groups with nubs the last 2 weeks
And ive still got bucks with antlers

Very common at this time of year. To start antlergenesis, a buck's body produces a surge of testosterone. That surge of testosterone gets the antler growth started but it also causes bucks to start acting rutty again. I can always tell when a new year's antler growth is starting on a property by watching for scrapes to open up in April.
So did I in Marshall County.

All of the bucks on my cam are all without antlers and look run down and skinny from a rough rutting season. I've got one with huge gouges in his neck and back from fighting. You can tell they are wore out.
I'm still getting pics of bucks that haven't shed yet. Don't remember ever seeing them hang on to their headgear this late into the year!
