Heard today that TWRA had leased part of the North Cumberland WMA to National Land Realtors and they were leasing hunting rights. Source also said someone tried to run him off last weekend.

I did a quick search and came up with nothing. Looked on TWRA website and also came up empty. Searched on TNDeer and didn't find anything. Anyone else heard this rumor?

It looks like they might have property in that area, but not owned by the state?

Sounds like someone is trying to run people off public lands or someone got turned around and wasn't where they thought they were

There are bits and pieces of private land all around, just inside the borders of North Cumberland WMA. Just a few examples below. My advice is to get an ONX subscription and use it when afield. The non shaded areas are private. Zoom in further and get owner info.

I had a couple locals tell me onx and the government sites were wrong about what was public. This was by the coal wash up Indian fork rd. They pretty much claimed the whole area and strongly suggested I go somewhere else. I didn't feel like making a bad situation worse at the time.

I am aware of some private land in that area. Many years ago, it was behind a locked gate.
