Found this out in the garage. According to the writing, I killed this 11-point on Oct. 2, 1992. I vaguely recall it and what I remember is the lack of a blood trail depsite a perfect double lung shot and complete pass through.

I'm not sure but I believe I killed a doe the next day and maybe one the day after that. I believe that was the same year I killed a nice bull elk in September. Must have been a pretty good year. I'm glad I started writing dates and location on the skulls from old kills.

Smart... I typically leave the kill tag attached but have lost a few due to moves. Going to start writing the date, state, and lic# on the back side of the skull plate.

I write the date and what weapon I killed it with on all pictures I take and on the bottom of the skulls.

I can't remember killing my first buck. If I didn't still have his antlers I wouldn't even know I killed him. It was 9 years ago and I was only 9. I remember everything else including my first deer which was a doe a few weeks before.

Every single deer. Doe, or buck...

most with video.

247 total and counting

If I didn't remember killing a deer like that I guess I would consider my years of deer hunting an absolute success. Hopefully one day I can look back on mine in a similar fashion.

Beautiful buck Bowriter and a good tip for us all.

Like Matt, it is hard for me to beleive I would forget even a single detail about killing a buck like that... but, again, like Matt, I hope to one day have that opportunity. :)

Hope you are feeling well.

Thanks plinker, lately, been feeling extremely well. I started putting dates and such on skull plates in the late 80's. I have about 30, scattered around that I took the time to cape out. Kinda fun to run across one I had forgotten about.

I have been doing that for years. I put the date and an "A" for archery or a "G" for gun. Whoever stole all the antlers from my hunting camp may not know that. I think they stole about 25 sets of antlers.
