Im trying to find out some info on an old winchester shotgun I have. Its a 12g 3" Over under Pigeon Grade XTR "Lightweight" Serial number 476650. This was given to me by my grandfather and dont know much about it besides he killed lots of quail, dove with it. I did a search on oldguns.net and it said was made in 1909? Not sure about that. Its in near perfect condition and even the barrels are pollished inside. Can anyone help me? Wanna hunt with it just because he did and the history behind it but at the same time Im more afraid to take it.

Pictureswould help but i can tell you the gun was not made in 1909 with 3" chambers.

The XTR lightweight is basically a 101 variant... Coin finish receiver and depending on when it was made it may or may not have screw in chokes. They were also sold with or without a case.

go to gunbroker.com and you can see simliar ones for sale.

Glad you want to keep it since it was your grandfathers... keep it in the family and think of him when you look at it or hunt with it.

The 101 model was introduced in 1963. Very desirable firearm.

As Sako said, check on some the gun auction sites for values. Condition is everything.
