BiggerLike this one did, what the heck does a 3 pound crappie look like….
Lol. I have never caught a 3 pound crappie. I doubt i have ever caught a 2. But just trying to fathom what a 3 pounder would like now that i have a reliable scaleExtend you arms all the way, that would get you "closer"
I'd guess most 3lbers will be 19" and aboveThats a hoss! How long was he? Trying to figure out how long 3 lb crappie usually are
Now that's bigger!
That white crappie is stout2 lb 2 oz 15" length 12.5" girth white in my right hand. 1 lb 8 oz black in my left. Didn't measure him

i cant fathom a 18.5" black nose crappie. they are so thick. we caught some 16" in the fall and they may have pushed 2, but we didnt trust the amazon china fish scale. finally bought a good one so we plan to weigh all the big ones this springThe two I caught were 18.5, have caught both white and black and they both were 18.5.

white crappie are skinnier anyway it seems. but man what a mouth on that thingLength without girth won't add up to much weight. I caught a really long white crappie back in the summer (fish in attached picture) that was 19 inches long but skinny as a rail and didn't even hit 2 lbs. I can't remember the exact weight but seems like it was 1.5 or something like that. But we were catching 14-16 in inchers that were right at 2 lbs. View attachment 225244
It's not all about length. Girth and thickness makes a huge difference
Holy smokes? Is that a 5 gallon bucket?
YepHoly smokes? Is that a 5 gallon bucket?
I was thinking the same thingI will just leave it alone
Im learning alot by weighing them and can tell you most people over estimate the weight. A 2 lb crappie must be a fairly rare fishThat is why it cracks me up when people show me a 15-16 inch crappie and say it weighed 3 or 4 lbs LOL I have caught several in the 16-17.5inch range that only weighed a little over 2lb.
